About Petals and Pedals

Petals? Some of the things blooming in us and through us. Sometimes the things we’re shedding. Pedals? Life is an…

'Tis (always) the season for gift giving

Alongside our list of 10,000 Reasons and Ways to Keep On, we are boldly seeking to raise $10,000 at the beginning of 2025.

Too many individuals are undervalued and devalued. Help Salvage Garden reclaim the value of all individuals. Click to donate.

Salvage Garden believes in the inherent worth and beauty of every body. Different is not less. We celebrate the diversity of our human family and the unity of our call to love and justice for all of creation. Read more about us and our story.

At each sensory worship service, we (attempt to) speak the following words together:

“Everyone has something to give. I am a gift. You are a gift. We offer our gifts of money to sustain Salvage Garden. We offer our time and our prayers too.”

Sometimes I don’t have much or anything to give. My wallet and my spirit: spent. Poet Mary Oliver reminds me that my wild, precious life is a gift. Your very own wild, precious life is a gift. Our very own wild, precious lives are the gifts. What are you doing with your one wild and precious life? And is Salvage Garden on your gift-giving list?

Salvage Garden currently operates on monthly offerings that barely sustain the expenses of providing sensory worship. It’s time to celebrate our roots, regenerate resources and programming, and branch out. $10,000 will equip Salvage Garden to begin the new year with sufficient resources to continue and expand its message and impact.

The Beyond Series is one example of recent collaboration that expands Salvage Garden’s work. The New Years’ Blues Service: Live Music and Art and the Virtual New Years’ Blues Gathering need funding. (You need to join us in person or virtually for these events.)

Contributions to the Ten Thousand for Salvage Garden Fundraiser can be mailed to Salvage Garden, 1900 West Market St., Greensboro, NC 27403, or made online here. There is a fee for online transactions; please consider adding to your gift to cover the fee.

Ten ways to help Salvage Garden raise $10,000

Most don't cost you any money!

1. Make your own tax-deductible donation. Checks should be payable to Salvage Garden with the memo “Ten Thousand Fundraiser.”

2. Already a supporter? Thank you! Can you increase your monthly donation amount? Don’t have a recurring contribution set up? Recurring gifts allow us to anticipate our resources and steward them well. Set up a recurring contribution through PayPal here.

3. Donate in memory or honor of someone or have (birthday/anniversary) gifts made to Salvage Garden in your honor.

4. Ask family and friends to donate to Salvage Garden. Tell them what we do and why it matters to you and to the community. Reflect on the resources, activities and programming that Salvage Garden was able to provide when we had grant funding years ago. We can reclaim and build upon these programs.

5. Ask more family members and friends to donate to Salvage Garden. A neighbor? A coworker? In addition to sharing what we do and why it matters to you, invite local folx to gather with us on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays each month.

6. Ask family members, friends and neighbors to ask their friends and neighbors.

7. Ask your faith community or a local faith community to donate to Salvage Garden.

8. Identify a community group or organization that aligns with our mission of reclaiming the value of all individuals and request a donation. Let us know about groups for potential collaboration. We will gladly recognize these gifts and organizations (free publicity!).

9. Raise money for this fundraiser by hosting a special dinner, having a sale, or sharing your talent that could draw in people and donations.

10. Collect your own change for a couple weeks and contribute that to the Ten Thousand for Salvage Garden Fundraiser. Every dime makes a difference!

11. (I know, I know, we said 10 Ways to raise $10,000.) Collect change or contributions in your workplace or in a small group to which you belong. Will your employer or an individual match the total amount?

Here we grow, Salvage Garden. We have so much to tend to in 2025 and beyond.
